In Every Age and In Every Generation

From the very beginning of the foundation of our Church by Jesus Christ, we were charged with living and spreading the good news of the Gospels. Jesus charged us with this responsibility: "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age." [Matthew 28: 19-20] The promise of Jesus gives us comfort—He will always be with us as we make every effort to live His Word, and to spread the news by example. Living the Word of Christ is the most effective way of spreading His message of love.

Saint John Paul II reminded us of our mission: "Guarding the deposit of faith is the mission which the Lord has entrusted to his Church and which she fulfills in every age." And, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI continued the message: "From generation to generation, the wonder evoked by this ineffable mystery never ceases." Pope Francis made the mission even clearer: "We must restore hope to young people, help the old, be open to the future, spread love. Be poor among the poor. We need to include the excluded and preach peace."

This work is for everyone of every age. Children spread the Love of Christ by their examples of wonder and innocence. Teenagers spread the comfort of Christ by doing good deeds for those they encounter and witnessing to the truth. Adults carry Christ's message in the work place, and our beloved elderly march forth with strength and vigor in prayer, action and vigilance in their faith.

Do not forget your part! Do not forget that we are all crucial in God's plan of mercy, love, forgiveness and inclusion for all people in and through every generation—that all might hear and see the Word of God and keep it!
